Curt has spent the last 6 years working as a platform engineer working primarily with Kafka, K8s, AWS, Azure, GCP and various monitoring and metrics platforms. Prior to that, he spent 10 years as a backend services developer working mostly in Java, a fair amount of Python, and occasionally Go, Ruby, and PHP.
Recently Curt led a team of engineers at a large insurance company to build a Kafka-as-a-Service platform on Azure. This platform enabled teams to quickly provision properly sized, secured, and monitored Kafka clusters for their individual needs.
Curt is passionate about two things: maximizing developer velocity and minimizing cloud costs. Labor and cloud are often among the largest expenses. Great platforms enable teams to move faster, and keep costs down. This leads to happy developers, customers, and owners. it’s a win-win-win.
